Opening Day!
We are excited to meet many of you today as Camp Pinnacle officially opens for its 84th summer!
We are incredibly proud of our counselor team. It’s a wonderful group of role models and they have formed a super close community over their two-week orientation. The kindness and inclusive nature of their community is intended to filter down to our campers. We will expect campers to treat each other in the same way that our counselor team does! Orientation is as long as a camp session and it needs to be. Even though our counselors arrived with a lot of ability and talent and many have been with us before, being a camp counselor is a complex and complicated job and we want to make sure our staff is more than ready! After all, we only have two weeks to make camp incredible. We want every hour to count.
I know, we are ready for your child to arrive! Over the past two weeks, we have had a child psychologist talk to us about child brain development and age appropriate communication. We have been visited by a panel of parents who have shared their aspirations for what Camp Pinnacle can offer their child. We have hiked, mountain biked, canoed, kayaked, camped out overnight, improved our teaching skills, examined trends in youth development, practiced driving skills, and covered an endless array of relevant topics. We’ve watched training videos, we’ve cleaned cabins, and we have modeled our camper evening meetings.
We are ready to go. If you are joining us for Session 1 today, June 20th – we can’t wait to meet you and show you around. If you are a returning family, we are eager to show you the many, many improvements since last summer. If you are a new family, we cannot wait to welcome you to your new camp. Camp Pinnacle looks the best it has in decades and we are continuing to improve things each day.
Have your children arrive eager for play, eager to get outside, and eager to meet incredible role models. We will work hard to make their two-week camp experience something that will be a highlight of the year.
We are eager for camp to get rolling. We have been working all year for today… and it’s finally here!
