After a nationwide search with nearly 150 applicants, Camp Pinnacle is proud to present the newest addition to the leadership team, program director Emory Klesick! Emory is an Appalachian State University graduate who has spent the past five summers working at Camp Highlander in Mills River, NC, as a kayak instructor and head of wilderness programs.
The high country surrounding App State helped Emory grow a passion for the outdoors, which quickly spread into his studies. After earning a bachelor’s degree in recreation management with a concentration in outdoor education, Emory settled into Asheville, NC, where his love for the outdoors continues to grow.
He is an American Canoe Association level 2 instructor and a Wilderness First Responder. He spends his free time paddling all over the Southeast. Emory is a talented musician who can play the guitar, bass, and drums; he cannot wait to join the Lakeside crew!
Emory will be joining the staff recruitment team during the winter and spring months. His focus will be recruiting and hiring all of our Off-Camp Adventures staff, as well as being one of our three interviews with potential cabin counselors. This summer, he will be responsible for planning and organizing all of our Off-Camp trips. We are confident that Emory’s skills and previous experience will help enhance Camp Pinnacle’s already safe, fun, and substantive Adventures program.
We are beyond excited to welcome Emory to the Pinnacle team and cannot wait for our families and staff to meet him this summer!
