It’s supposed to be Spring… It still feels like January, but with less than 3 months until Camp Pinnacle opens for the summer, we are picking up our already speedy pace!
Wow! There is a lot going on. Summer registration already exceeds all of last summer by 25%! We still have space in every session and we greatly appreciate it when you tell your friends about the magic of Camp Pinnacle. Many campers who came for two weeks last summer are coming back for four weeks this year.
Maggie and Ben are hard at work finalizing details for our eleven -day counselor orientation. Camper activity books (brand new) are being printed and we are putting the finishing touches on a new scheduling system that will further maximize your ability to do an incredible amount of activities in just two weeks! No camp does more in two weeks than Camp Pinnacle!
Our counselor team is almost completely hired and we are excited that it will be another great group of powerful role models! About 75% of our counselors were former Adventure Treks students. Many of our great counselors are returning from last year!
New, Exciting Mountain bike trails. Our friends at Trail Dynamics are currently expanding our mountain bike and hiking trail system.
Bulldozers are out and we are adding another mile of trail. We have already ridden what’s been built and it’s incredible! There is a great downhill There will be some exciting trail features that will make the riding the new trails even more fun. Meanwhile, Rodney Robinson and Ben are adding features to our Mountain Bike Park and expanding the Pump Track.
Ben is planning to take the inaugural plunge down the second biggest water slide in western North Carolina. We are certain the fun of the slide will outweigh the impact when he hits the freezing water! Custom slide parts which let us reroute the slide without cutting down any big trees have arrived and have been installed! Our new slide blends into the hillside. How much fun will it be sliding through the forest before splashdown into Wolfe Lake. We’ll need your help in picking the perfect name for the slide. Much site work still remains but this is going to be an amazingly fun activity this summer. Word is that its going to be fast enough…
New Lawn. (see Photos Below) We have put in new turf near the flagpole and are seeding the lawn down by the lake near the new walkway. We are making our “Great Lawn” greener and better to play on!
Putt Putt Course – we are upgrading the holes on the Putt Putt Golf Course to represent camp activities. This is a perfect cabin or free time activity. We have also fixed up the Game Room / Library and added a new Ping Pong Room downstairs.
New Porches – virtually every cabin will have a new porch for evening meeting or just hanging out and talking with friends during down time
New Walkway by the girls cabins– Coming soon!
Don’t miss our Open House on Saturday, May 4. This is followed by the Gnarliest Kids Adventure Race Ever (GNAR – 2013) at Camp Pinnacle on May 5. Sign Up with a partner for the race now. – Space is Limited and will be sold out long before race day. This is a super fun family event! Don’t miss it, if you live anywhere in the WNC area.
