We are incredibly excited to welcome Walker Hendry back to our director team this summer. After two summers away, it did not take too much convincing that this is where he is supposed to be. Walker rejoins us for 2022 over seeing the boys’ side of camp. Known for his skills branding paddles, Walker will finally earn a paddle of his own!
Prior to Camp Pinnacle, Walker gained experience as a field instructor for various outdoor programs, staff and volunteer recruitment, and community building in the nonprofit world. Walker has a degree in Outdoor Education from Georgia College and has an extensive background in wilderness medicine and safety management, maintaining his Wilderness First Responder certification since 2010.
As a member of the leadership team, Walker will have a diverse role at camp. Among other things, he will be responsible for the supervision and management of the boys’ side of camp, focusing on our staff’s personal and professional growth, and assisting in day-to-day operations. Walker strives to foster a caring and inclusive community for our campers and helps them build lasting relationships with one another. We are confident in Walker’s ability to positively contribute to the overall camp experience for our campers, parents, and staff.
Walker comes back to camp with his wonderful wife, Sara Jane, and his two springer spaniels, Dylan and Wyatt, who you will certainly see running around camp this summer. You’re sure to catch Walker on the disc golf course, casting his fly rod on Wolfe Lake, or running and biking the trails of western North Carolina.
