Good morning Camp Pinnacle!
It is the first day of Junior Camp and everyone is so excited to jump right into the fun! With the morning bell ringing at 7:30am, our counselors worked hard to gather up our campers and get them ready for breakfast at 8:15am.
Chef Connor and his team cooked up a hearty breakfast of pancakes with syrup, scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries and a selection of fruits with vanilla yogurt – our campers are in for a treat! We serve our breakfast family style, which allows the campers to learn about sharing out food within their cabin and having the time to connect with one another over mealtimes.
Now heading down to lakeside, we sang our classic ‘Good Morning’ song, to pump everyone up for the day. We then made sure each cabin had the chance to showcase their roll calls. Nolichucky stole the show by creating their own song, winning the iconic prize of ‘Rick the Stick’. Nolichucky will take good care of ‘Rick the Stick’ until tomorrow’s lakeside roll calls where we will find out our next winner. Then onto more singing and dancing with our amazing lakeside crew – which always ends up with a counselor jumping in the lake!

Straight from lakeside, our campers went with their cabins to their first ever activity period! At Camp Pinnacle we have a wide selection of activities that encourage campers to take reasonable risks, try new things and most importantly – have fun. Some of our activities include stand-up paddleboarding, archery, climbing and pickleball, the list goes on. On day one it is important that our cabins are having the chance to bond with one another and embrace activities as a team.

After a busy morning of activities, our campers enjoyed a wonderful buffet lunch of tomato soup, tater tots, grilled cheese sandwiches and of course a selection of salad.
The afternoon brought even more activities such as theatre, riflery, swimming and basketball, and after a full day of fun – everyone headed over to the front lawn for a beautiful evening cookout, which made for a heart-warming scene of frisbee games, smiling faces, and happy bellies. Once campers finished their hot dogs and hamburgers, they gathered in the Council Ring for our Opening Campfire.
Opening Campfire gave us intentional moments of reflection regarding the uniqueness of our moment in time and the people around us while also bringing about tons of laughs and smiles through skits and songs.
Post-campfire, we enjoyed milk and cookies on the dining hall porch before holding evening circles, taking showers, and laying down for some well-earned rest. It was an outstanding day, and we’re looking forward to another great one!
