Another bright and exciting morning here at Camp Pinnacle!

As the early birds rise, so do we! The day began at 7:30 a.m. as campers jumped into their morning routines, which are becoming second nature as we near the end of the first week of our two-week session. Campers worked together to sweep their cabins, make their beds, organize their shelves, and tidy their living spaces. These daily responsibilities help teach valuable life skills and reinforce one of Camp Pinnacle’s core values: Respect—one of our famous “5 R’s.” Respect for yourself, your cabin mates, and your shared living space is an important lesson that campers practice every day.

Cabins that complete their chores to a high standard earn a coveted “Check Plus.” Collect five in a row, and a special sweet treat could be coming their way! The friendly competition keeps everyone motivated while encouraging teamwork and responsibility.

Before long, it was time for breakfast at 8:15 a.m. Campers enjoyed a delicious spread of crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, warm cinnamon buns, fresh fruit, and, of course, plenty of refreshing orange juice to fuel them for the adventures ahead.

Lakeside was buzzing with energy as always! This morning, our youngest cabins took center stage during roll calls, showcasing their creativity, enthusiasm, and cabin spirit. Black Balsam impressed our judges earning the prize of “Rick the Stick” and “Fig the Twig,” with a standout performance that had everyone cheering.

Roll calls are much more than just a fun tradition—they give cabins the opportunity to work together, strengthen teamwork skills, and build confidence by performing in front of the entire camp community. The excitement generated each morning creates the perfect start to the day as campers head off to their activity periods full of energy and enthusiasm.

At lunchtime, our incredible kitchen team served up a camper favorite: pizza! With cheese, pepperoni, and BBQ chicken options available, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

During lunch, more campers were recognized for their hard work and dedication as patches were awarded across several program areas. Earning a patch is one of Camp Pinnacle’s most cherished traditions, celebrating the resilience, growth, and skill development campers demonstrate throughout their time at camp. Whether in Nature, Target Sports, or other activity areas, these achievements reflect the effort campers put into challenging themselves and learning new things.

While many campers were busy enjoying activities around camp, several of our Chipmunk cabins headed out on their day hikes. Guided by our outstanding trip leaders, campers explored the beauty of the surrounding mountains, learned about local plants and wildlife, and gained a deeper appreciation for the natural world. Campers also have a free choice of multiple sandwich fillings, snacks and fruit for their baggy bar style packed lunch.  Hiking provides wonderful opportunities for cabin groups to bond, support one another, and build confidence as they tackle new challenges together.

When the hikers returned to camp in the afternoon, they had the opportunity to participate in C-Day sign-ups for the weekend’s special activities. Campers individually chose the experiences that interested them most, creating personalized schedules filled with fun and adventure. Options included birdhouse decorating, paddleboard yoga, fire building, and even an exciting blob contest on the waterfront.

Dinner was another highlight of the day, featuring delicious buffet style burrito bowls with both meat and vegetarian options. After an active day, campers were more than ready to refuel before the evening’s big event.

Tonight marked the exciting beginning of the legendary Pinnacle Cup!

The entire camp gathered in the Shadium before being led to the gym for the highly anticipated “Color Reaping.” During this special tradition, every camper was assigned to one of three teams: Blue, Red, or Green. The atmosphere was electric as campers eagerly discovered their teams and prepared for the competition ahead.

Once teams were announced, the games officially began! Campers immediately jumped into a series of challenges designed to test teamwork, creativity, strategy, and camp spirit. Every point earned brings teams one step closer to claiming the coveted CP Cup, and the friendly rivalry has already created incredible excitement across camp.

As the evening wound down, campers participated in more hat ceremonies and evening circles, reflecting on the day’s adventures and celebrating achievements with their cabin groups. After carefully scrubbing off face paint and getting ready for bed, everyone settled in for some well-earned rest.

The excitement continues to build, and we can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Another unforgettable day at Camp Pinnacle is in the books!
