Back again with another fun-filled day at Camp Pinnacle!
While most campers woke up to the usual 7:30am bell, some lucky cabins were up half an hour earlier, heading to early breakfast at 7:30 instead, preparing food and packing their bags ready for day trips. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast of french toast, eggs and bacon, energizing ourselves for the final day of activities this session! Heading down to Lakeside from breakfast, where we hosted roll call (with Black Balsam winning!), sang some songs to get hyped for the busy morning ahead of us, and went over the daily schedule. This morning, the Pinnacle Cup games intervened at Lakeside, with one game, diaper races, taking place from the top of the lawn, with the Wolfe Pack Lieutenants from each team racing down the hill to secure more points ready for the color relay at the end of the session. Blue Team won this time, but will the score even out? We will shortly see…

First period saw campers returning to their favorite activities around camp, some groups up in the sky park, others starting off with a beautiful morning swim! With today marking the countdown to the end of the session, campers were working hard all around camp to earn more badges, or to warm themselves up for the challenge during Hypetivity. Campers on their day trips were busy rafting down the Nantahala river, having the time of their lives with friends made along the way!
Lunch had everyone filled up and ready for naps in downtime with sandwiches. Everyone enjoyed making their own sandwiches from the selection of meats and salad fillings at the front of the dining hall, seeing who could make the most peculiar, yet still delicious, sandwich. Downtime was perfect, with everyone taking time to relax, shut their eyes for a minute or two, or finally finish up those friendship bracelets.

The afternoon continued as usual, with third, fourth and fifth period allowing campers to have a final go on the waterfront and the sky park, riflery or archery. We had our Fruit Break, followed by Gym and Swim before being called for dinner. For our older cohort cabins and Wolfepack, tonight’s treat was a ‘Fancy Dinner’, with everyone arriving smartly dressed and being presented with a gorgeous buffet full of steak, bread rolls, garlic mushrooms and a huuuuge, luxurious charcuterie board. It was a feast to remember, with everyone enjoying themselves and the food. The younger cohorts also had quite the treat, with barbeque chicken drumsticks, collard greens and sweet potato mash, followed up with Chef Connors special Monkey Bread.

Evening Programme was GOLDRUSH! Goldrush is one of the largest EP’s run on camp as part of the Pinnacle Cup games, with two phases. Phase one has campers running around camp, gathering ‘gold’ whilst trying to avoid the bandits (counselors out to snatch their gold). When campers find gold, they have to avoid being tagged by the bandits, which, if they successfully tag the campers, will ask them a general trivia question. Failing to correctly answer a question from the bandits results in the campers’ gold being stolen! The bandits then, in phase two, had the tables turned against them, as they then had to hide with their stolen gold, and the campers had their fun tagging them back and sending them straight to jail!

The night ended with all of the bandits being thrown in the lake as punishment for all the gold they had stolen. A brilliant end to an amazing Evening Programme, and an even better day.

Campers headed straight to bed, charging up for the Colour Relay tomorrow morning. Lets go Pinnacle! We’ll see you tomorrow!
