Happy Wednesday from Camp Pinnacle!

We woke up to another beautiful summer morning, with clear skies and plenty of excitement in the air. Campers started their day from all around —whether they spent the night in their cabins, at one of our on-site camping spots, or out exploring the backcountry on an overnight adventure.

Each morning at Camp Pinnacle begins with campers taking pride in their cabin community. Through simple daily responsibilities like sweeping, making beds, and helping keep their living spaces tidy, campers continue developing one of our most important values: Respect. These routines encourage teamwork, responsibility, and independence while helping everyone contribute to their cabin family.

At 8:15 a.m., everyone gathered for a delicious family-style breakfast. Campers enjoyed French toast sticks, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, fresh fruit, and a selection of cereal. Sharing meals family-style is one of the many traditions at Camp Pinnacle that helps build friendships and create meaningful conversations around the table.

Lakeside was buzzing with energy this morning as campers gathered for one of our favorite daily traditions. The sunshine made it the perfect setting for enthusiastic cabin roll calls, where creativity, teamwork, and camp spirit were on full display. Congratulations to Tuckasegee, whose fantastic performance of Lush Life and unforgettable dance moves earned them today’s top honors! The excitement continued with our favorite camp songs, plenty of laughs during “In the Lake,” and, of course, one of the highlights everyone looks forward to—the Soccer World Cup updates! Our incredible support staff once again entertained campers with their hilarious reenactments of the latest matches, bringing plenty of smiles and laughter to the morning.

The rest of the day was filled with adventure as campers headed off to activities. Many were trying something completely new, while others continued building skills in their favorite activity areas as they worked toward earning Camp Pinnacle patches. Whether it’s archery, climbing, outdoor skills, arts, or another activity, each patch represents perseverance, growth, and accomplishment.

Our patch program encourages campers to challenge themselves by completing activity-specific goals while demonstrating our Five R’s throughout the process. These patches become treasured keepsakes that campers proudly display on their hats, backpacks, Crazy Creeks, and other gear, serving as lasting reminders of the skills they’ve developed and the memories they’ve made over the years at Camp Pinnacle.

Lunch brought another tasty family-style meal with cheeseburger sliders, hot dogs, salad, homemade chips, and all the energy campers needed for a busy afternoon. We would also like to give a huge thank you to our incredible kitchen team, who work tirelessly to prepare delicious meals three times each day. Their hard work helps keep everyone fueled for every adventure. A special shoutout also goes to our family engagement coordinator KK for sharing delicious homemade pickles with camp—campers loved giving them a try!

One of today’s most exciting moments was welcoming back our squirrels cabins from their in-camp overnight adventures. For many of our youngest campers, this was their very first camping experience. While some left feeling a little unsure of what to expect, they returned full of smiles, stories, and newfound confidence. Experiences like these encourage campers to step outside their comfort zones, discover what they’re capable of, and build confidence that extends far beyond camp.

We also welcomed back our first backpacking groups after spending two days exploring the beautiful outdoors. Backpacking gives campers the opportunity to build even more advanced outdoor skills, including setting up camp, cooking meals outdoors, and learning safe fire-building techniques. Many campers worked toward earning their Fire Building Patch while gaining valuable experience living and working together in nature.

Dinner was another family favorite, featuring teriyaki-style chicken served with fried rice and stir fry vegetables. One of the wonderful parts of camp dining is giving campers the opportunity to try new foods and flavors in a fun, encouraging environment. To top off a warm summer day, everyone enjoyed refreshing Push Pops for dessert—a treat that was definitely a camper favorite!

Tonight – the cabins of Panthertown, Eaglerock, Max Patch, Cedar Rock, Sycamore Cove and Black Balsam headed out on their in-camp overnights. Some of the locations included the nature treehouse, over the lily pads at Holly Flats and even the Archery Range!

As the sun began to set, our other campers headed off to their evening programs. Our squirrels enjoyed an energetic game of Farkle, where teamwork, communication, and quick thinking were put to the test as teams worked together to collect a rubber chicken, soccer ball, and flying disc while avoiding having their flags pulled. It was filled with laughter, excitement, and plenty of friendly competition.

Meanwhile, our older campers showcased their creativity during Top Chef. Working in teams, they used a variety of ingredients to build imaginative edible masterpieces before presenting them to a panel of judges – our amazing evening program coordinators Krithi and Neko. The creativity on display was truly impressive, and campers had just as much fun making their creations as they did presenting them.

As another incredible day came to a close, campers headed back to their cabins ready for a well-earned night’s sleep. Every day at Camp Pinnacle brings new adventures, stronger friendships, exciting challenges, and memories that will last a lifetime.

We can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store. Over and out Camp Pinnacle!
