The final full day of camp arrived with the familiar wake-up bell at 7:30 a.m., and there was a real sense of excitement in the air. After two incredible weeks of adventure, friendships, and memories, today was the day everyone had been waiting for—Pinnacle Cup Day! Before the action began, campers worked together to tidy their cabins one last time before enjoying a hearty breakfast of ham and cheese croissants, hashbrowns, crispy bacon, sausages, yoghurt, and fresh fruit to fuel the busy day ahead.
The morning also gave campers the chance to reflect on their experience by completing camper evaluations in the dining hall. It’s always one of our favorite traditions, as campers share their highlights, favorite activities, and feedback from their session. A fun piece of camp trivia is that whichever activity receives the most “favorite activity” votes earns its counselors a special plaque to proudly display. While campers completed their evaluations, our staff spent time reviewing efficient packing techniques and preparing for tomorrow’s departure, ensuring everything runs as smoothly as possible for both campers and parents.
Once everyone had finished, camp gathered for a silent Lakeside. Our Head Counselors held the annual silent auction of lost and found items before the atmosphere quickly shifted as campers broke into cheers, sang hype songs, and celebrated their Color Captains one final time before the Pinnacle Cup relay began.
From there, each color team headed to their hype circles—Blue at the volleyball court, Red at the Thunderdome, and Green at the pickleball court. Every camper received a wristband to help keep the relay organized as hundreds of campers spread out across camp to complete their assigned challenge. The relay is one giant team effort, with every camper playing an important role. Challenges ranged from muffin eating, balloon popping, and Sudoku to swimming, archery, and racing down the slip-and-slide, all while a baton made its way around camp from one teammate to the next.
As the final runners crossed the finish line, each color team gathered inside the Council Ring for one last roll call before the dramatic fire-building finale. Each team raced to burn through their rope, with the first rope to fall winning the relay itself. But the relay is only one part of the Pinnacle Cup. Throughout the week, campers have been earning points through challenges, teamwork, camp spirit, and sportsmanship. After adding everything together, this year’s Pinnacle Cup champions were… the Red Team! Their incredible spirit and encouragement of others earned them the overall victory. Congratulations to all three teams for making the competition so positive and memorable. The celebrations continued with team photos before the Color Captains took the traditional celebratory plunge into the lake to officially bring the Pinnacle Cup to a close.
Following such an exciting morning, Wolfepack enjoyed a waterfront pizza party while the rest of camp gathered for a delicious Greek-inspired lunch featuring pita bread, orzo salad, grilled chicken, and kebab meat. Cabins that achieved Cheque Plus for both weeks were rewarded with well-earned ice cream sundaes before everyone enjoyed some downtime to relax and recharge.
The fun certainly wasn’t over, though. At 2:30 p.m., campers headed to ‘Mountain Beach Party’, making the most of every minute together. Whether they were kayaking across the lake, soaring off the Blob, racing down the Mountain Slide, swimming, playing volleyball, or simply spending time with friends by the waterfront, it was the perfect way to celebrate an unforgettable session.
After the last fruit break of the session, camp shifted into closing-day preparation. Counselors worked closely with their campers to carefully pack trunks, neatly fold clothes, dry any damp items in the sunshine, label luggage, organize shipping trunks, and separate medications ready for tomorrow. Our staff spend time training specifically for departure day, and they take great pride in making sure every camper is organized and ready for a smooth journey home.
The day finished with a camp cookout of ribs, beef brisket, homemade potato salad, beans and watermelon slices before everyone gathered around the Closing Campfire. Campers received their special end-of-session gifts, including branded paddles for those celebrating three years at camp, and reflected on the friendships, challenges, and memories they had made over the past two weeks. As the evening came to a close, cabins shared one final goodbye circle with their counselors before heading back for lights out.
While it’s hard to believe these two weeks have flown by so quickly, your campers have filled every day with adventure, laughter, personal growth, and new friendships. As we prepare to welcome you back tomorrow, know that they are heading home with stories to tell, memories that will last a lifetime, and a little more confidence than when they arrived.
