Hello from Camp Pinnacle!
Today’s wakeup was a later one than usual, kicking off the weekend with campers getting up at 8:30am! As usual, they tidied cabins, making sure everything was nice and tidy for them to come back to, hopefully earning them a lovely check plus to work towards that tasty treat at the end of session. Saturdays are also Pinnacle’s laundry day! Campers had all of their clothes packed and ready to be sent off before breakfast at 9:15am, which, mysteriously, all of the forks had disappeared for… Campers had to figure out how to eat their breakfast with zero forks, which wasn’t super hard, but still left everyone wondering what exactly had happened to all of the cutlery. At the end of breakfast, we discovered that the forks had gone missing and the only way to return them safely back to the dining hall for the rest of the summer, was to participate in the annual CP 5k run!

Campers had 30 minutes after breakfast to return to cabins and prepare themselves for the run ahead, meeting in the Shadium at 10:30am. With the majority of campers being up for the competition, we also had a group of walkers, accompanied by staff, who walked the 5k right behind our runners, who did two laps of camp, passing by the climbing wall, the ball field, and looping around all the way to Holly Flats and back! Our runners got to chill out, snack on some refreshing popsicles and fashion themselves with buttons and temporary tattoos to show their support for the forks while they waited for everyone else to finish up running. We had winners from both Hillside and Village, who got to hold up the CP 5k trophy, get a quick picture and relish in their victory for the rest of the day.

From the run, it was back up to the dining hall for lunch, which was teriyaki chicken, rice, spring rolls and mixed vegetables, a delicious feast for our hard working campers, getting them topped back up on energy before the afternoon. Lunch also saw the return of the forks! As everyone had done so well in the 5k, the forks had returned, allowing everyone to eat their lunch much easier, and bringing back a bit of normality to our meals. The weather took a rough turn midway through lunch, but our campers and staff persevered, and, thankfully, it had settled just as lunch finished! Perfectly in time for our campers to head back to cabins and get in some quick naps during downtime.
With it being the weekend, instead of returning to a typical schedule, campers got to attend their well awaited C-Day activities, splitting away from their cabins, and attending the activities they got to personally sign up for the day before! This session saw the return of our Junior Media Team, for the first time this summer, with both periods being fully booked up! Campers got to experience what life was like in the Media Team, writing their own microposts using pictures of themselves taken over the session, and getting to take the cameras out to compete against other groups, seeing who could take the best pictures! Others were down at the Canoe docks, venturing out on an exhilarating expedition across camp, to find their inner ‘Mr. Canoe’, some were on the hunt for salamanders and other tiny friends all over camps creeks and ditches! Others chose more chill activities, opting to tie dye shirts, bedazzle and embellish their hats and glasses, or simply join book club down at the beach. All-in-all, it was an action packed, fun-filled day designed by the campers themselves, giving them opportunities to branch out of their comfort zone, make new friends and try new things!

After three periods of activities, it was back down to the gym for fruit break, a prompt top up before Gym and Swim! With all of our campers using up all of their energy having the best time they could, dinner was the perfect selection of Mexican themed food to keep everyone going right through the evening. Everyone was treated with guacamole, salsa, pulled chicken, and tofu along with tortilla chips and lemonade, followed by a beautiful dessert of fresh, warm cookies. This was the perfect meal to end another perfect day. Our dinner ended with some announcements from directors and staff, with tonight’s Evening Programme being revealed.

EP today was a camper favourite, reimagined to fit in with our fork theme for the session… Club Pinnacle! Promptly renamed ‘Fork Fest’ for the day, campers had a night full of fun crafts, face paint, dancing along with their campmates in the gym (which had been turned into a club, decked out with epic music, bright lights and a smoke machine!), and plenty of fun games for them to get involved with! It was certainly a night to remember, with smiles all around, spirits high and energy buzzing all around camp.

Around 8:45pm, it was time for Club Pinnacle to close its doors for the night, with campers heading back to their cabins, showering for the night, receiving their evening meds, and tucking into bed after a thrilling day. Everyone is ready and raring to go for another late wakeup tomorrow! With even more C-Day activities to keep the energy high, more new friends to meet, and plenty of new things to learn and discover!
We’ll keep you posted!
See you tomorrow.
