First week of Session 3 – complete!
Sunday at Camp Pinnacle brought another relaxed start to the day, giving everyone a chance to recharge before an exciting second week of camp begins. The wake-up bell rang at 8:30 a.m., and after a little extra sleep, campers worked together to tidy up their cabins. It’s wonderful to see how quickly cabin groups become teams, with everyone pitching in to make their shared space feel like home. Soon after, everyone headed to the dining hall for a cozy pajama breakfast at 9:15. The menu featured sausages, fried eggs, fluffy omelets, raspberry and blueberry muffins, fun cereal, and plenty of smiles as campers enjoyed a slower-paced morning together.
Instead of rushing into activities, Sunday mornings are all about giving campers the freedom to choose how they’d like to spend their time. Beginning at 10:30, campers could ease into the day with cartoons in the gym, a refreshing swim in the lake, peaceful yoga by Lakeside, Sunday Bike Club, a nature walk, paddling Tiny Boats, or simply relaxing on the dining hall porch making friendship bracelets and reading books. It was a calm, laid-back morning where campers could spend time with whoever they wanted, catch up with friends from different cabins, and enjoy the peaceful side of camp life.

At noon, the whole camp came together for a quick camp cleanup before the busy week ahead. Each cabin was assigned an area around camp to help spruce up, and everyone took pride in making Camp Pinnacle look its very best. Working together to care for camp is just another way campers build responsibility while taking ownership of the place they call home for the summer.
Lunch was served at 12:30, with sloppy joes, fries, mixed vegetables, and a refreshing cantaloupe and pineapple fruit salad. During lunch, we also celebrated all of the campers who earned new patches during yesterday’s C-Days. Hearing names called and seeing campers proudly receive recognition for trying new things and mastering skills is always one of the highlights of the day.
After lunch, campers enjoyed a little downtime to relax before the afternoon adventures. Meanwhile, our Wolfepack Year 1 and Year 2 campers headed out on a tubing trip down the beautiful French Broad River, enjoying cool water, great company, and another memorable outdoor adventure.
At 2:15, it was time for one of everyone’s favorite Sunday traditions: C-Days, or Camper Choice Days. Campers selected three different activities based on what interested them most, creating an afternoon full of creativity and adventure. Some campers decorated fun embellishments, others jumped into exciting games of Riverball, explored watercolor paddleboarding, celebrated at the climbing patch party, or searched for hidden surprises during an enchanted forest scavenger hunt.

Although some rain showers and thunder rolled through during the afternoon, camp stayed safe and flexible. Our staff quickly moved activities to safe indoor locations whenever needed, making sure the fun continued while keeping every camper protected. Before long, the weather passed, and everyone was right back to enjoying their afternoon.

By 5:30, it was time for fruit break—and as if on cue, the sunshine returned! Campers headed to Gym & Swim, where they could cool off from the humid afternoon by swimming in the lake, soaring off the rope swing, playing volleyball, or jumping into energetic games of Gaga Ball. It was the perfect way to burn off some energy before dinner.

Dinner at 6:30 brought a delicious Southern feast of fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, and a crowd-favorite dessert of creamy banana pudding. After a full day of activities, everyone was more than ready for a hearty meal together.
The excitement continued into the evening with a camp-wide World Cup Watch Party featuring Argentina vs. Spain. Campers grabbed their Crazy Creeks and settled in with friends inside the gym to cheer on their favorite team. There was face painting, poster making, fresh popcorn, and for those who couldn’t resist playing instead of just watching, soccer games were happening over in the Thunderdome. It was an energetic evening full of team spirit, laughter, and plenty of camp memories.

As another wonderful Sunday came to a close, cabins gathered for their evening circles to reflect on the day, share laughs, and prepare for everything week two has in store. With lights out at 9:45, campers drifted off to sleep after a day that perfectly balanced relaxation, adventure, and friendship. Tomorrow begins another exciting week of activities, trips, challenges, and unforgettable moments here at Camp Pinnacle—and we can’t wait to share it all with you!
