Happy Thursday from Camp Pinnacle!

This morning, some of our younger cabins woke up somewhere slightly different from their cabins, as our Chipmunks (the youngest cohort of boys) spent the night on their In-Camp Overnights! With the many unique and beautiful places around our camp grounds, we give our youngest campers the opportunity to camp outside for a night, giving them a feel for the future backpacks they could be going on! Speaking of, our oldest cabins woke up for their final morning out in the wilderness, ready to spend their last day out of camp bonding with their cabin mates, learning more about the backcountry and enjoying the fresh air. The rest of camp woke up at the usual 7:30am, tucked comfortably in their cabins, and ready to lend a hand with chores to keep their shared spaces neat and tidy, and keep working as a team towards their end of session ice cream sundaes!

Breakfast at 8:15 was a delicious selection of croissants, sausage, and home fries! The fruit bar was also open, offering a tasty alternative of granola, mixed berries and yogurt. We also had a variety of cereals out, plenty of options to keep our campers energised and healthy throughout their session. From breakfast, everyone headed down to Lakeside, where we held today’s roll calls! Wolfe Pack Year Three stole the show, winning “B.O.S.S.” (Bag of Some Stuff) for their unique and entertaining performance. Lakeside was the perfect time to run over the days schedule, ensuring everyone knew how the day would run, as well as learning some fun songs, watching some entertaining skits and making sure everyone was wide awake and ready for an action-packed day at camp!

Periods one and two saw campers attending new activities alongside their cabin and counsellor, getting to push themselves just that little bit farther into their growth zone, learning more and more about the challenges they can get through! Some campers were practicing their pickleball skills, warming up for their chance to challenge the Pickleball Counselors and attempt to earn their patch this summer, others were improving their aim over at archery, working their way up the levels. After first and second period, Hypetivity rolled around, allowing campers to return to their favourite activities with a buddy, whether it be crafting something new and memorable down in arts and crafts, or zooming around the pump track over at Mountain Biking, zipping down the flow trail.

Lunch, at 12:30, was a tasty chicken sandwich with lettuce, cheese and tomato alongside a selection of sauces and the salad bar! Campers enjoyed getting to build their own sandwich, with lunch being served buffet style (as always), and getting to choose where and who they sit with, allowing them to branch out and make friends they may not see throughout the rest of the day whilst attending activities. After lunch, campers celebrated their peers’ achievements, watching and applauding as patches were handed out, before heading back to cabins for an hour of downtime.

Periods three, four and five saw cabins back together, traveling across camp to finish up at the rest of their activities for the day, with most cabins down at the waterfront, cooling off from the sun, splashing around on paddleboards and kayaks. Fruit break in the gym at 5:30pm gave everyone a break from the excitement, a quick five minutes to chill out, hydrate, refill water bottles and catch up with friends from other cabins once more. From there it was straight to Gym & Swim, another hour for campers to choose what they do, from a selection of specified activities such as volleyball, tiny boats, or the blob…

Once everyone is all tired out it’s time for dinner! Today’s special was pulled pork, roasted vegetables and rice. Before dessert was served, we celebrated two birthdays, with cakes provided by our kitchen staff, sang the Pinnacle special Happy Birthday song and let the campers share their cake. Dessert for everyone else was chocolate pudding, the perfect treat before heading back to cabins to get ready for tonight’s Evening Program, the well anticipated Staff vs. Wolfe Pack Basketball game! The game started at 7:35pm, with campers arriving in either blue or black clothes to support their chosen team. The Wolfe Pack branded themselves wearing all blue, whilst the staff wore their signature black.Campers got to snack on some tasty popcorn throughout the night, with cohorts heading down to the gym between quarters. The game was tense, filled with skits, incredible basketball skills and plenty of cheers and cries from the crowd, most of which had brought their very own supporting signs, some designed to cheer on their own counselors partaking in the game! The game was a close one, with Wolfe Pack scoring the final point and taking home the win for the session!

From basketball, for most, it was back to cabins to shower, tidy up and get ready for bed, with more of our cabins heading back out for their In-Camp Overnights all around camp again! That’s a wrap on Thursday, keep checking in with us throughout the session to hear more of how the day has gone here at camp!
